How it works

2. Book diagnostics online
Use our booking calendar to choose the next available diagnostic slot instantly.
3. Drop off / vehicle delivered to Milta
If delivering via recovery, the vehicle must arrive between 7:00am and 3:45pm to allow handover before closing.
4. Diagnostics appointment
We confirm the fault and identify the correct repair route. You receive a clear explanation + recommended options. Diagnostics cost £80 + VAT and typically take 45–60 minutes.
5. Quote and options confirmed
You receive a written quote outlining the recommended service and what’s included. Work only begins once the quote is approved.
6. Repair / reconditioning work
Timeline depends on gearbox type, confirmed fault, and parts availability. We’ll confirm the most realistic timeframe after diagnostics.
7. Testing and final checks
Testing includes a final scan and 1–3 test drives depending on the job. Your vehicle is only marked complete once testing is confirmed.
8. Ready for collection
You will be notified when the vehicle is ready. Once your vehicle is complete, we ask that it’s collected within 5 working days. Storage charges may apply after this period (see Terms & Conditions).

How long does diagnostics take, and how much does it cost?Diagnostics take around 45 minutes to 1 hour and cost £80 + VAT.
Repair time
How long will the repair take?It depends on the fault and parts required. For many standard repairs, we set an expectation of around 3–5 working days, but we can only confirm the timeline after diagnostics.
Flywheel
Should I replace the flywheel during gearbox reconditioning?We strongly recommend replacing the flywheel during gearbox reconditioning. It’s accessible once the gearbox is removed, and replacing it later can add significant labour cost.
When we carry out gearbox reconditioning, the gearbox is already removed, which means the flywheel is easily accessible. However, flywheel condition can be difficult to confirm, it may sound fine at the time but still fail shortly after.
Replacing the flywheel during gearbox work is a preventative option that can save significant cost later, because if the flywheel fails after the gearbox is refitted, it requires the gearbox to be removed again (additional labour and costs).
If you choose not to replace it, that’s completely up to you, but we will always advise you of the option while the gearbox is already out.

Do you work on remapped or modified cars?We only work on vehicles running stock (factory) software.
Some engine/gearbox remaps increase torque and power, which can put additional strain on the clutch and gearbox components. This increases the risk of repeat faults.
- Heavy modifications (often called “Stage 2”) are not accepted, as they can quickly damage the clutch and gearbox again.
- Light modifications (often called “Stage 1”) may be considered case-by-case.
